Future Fossil fuses the techniques of autoradiography and photogram. Using uranium ore samples collected from active mines worldwide, the artist has created a photoautoradiograph by placing an outline drawing of a trilobite fossil on photosensitive paper, irradiating it with the radioactive ore, and exposing it to sunlight in the Meisterhaus Muche Schlemmer. The resulting work is then displayed behind glass, with an etched outline sketch of the same fossil. This piece pays tribute to the photogram experiments of László Moholy-Nagy and is a thought-provoking exploration of the intersection of science and art that reminds us that the core fossils we leave behind are the radioactive substances we produce as a result of our high energy consumption. In addition, the accompanying work "Time Containments," created with the generous support of Thomas Fornoff, adds another layer of speculative archeology. Wooden cylinders of different sizes, overgrown with different mushroom mycelia, are meticulously arranged in clusters in two places in the exhibition space. These pieces together create a compelling commentary on the passage of time and the enduring legacy of past decisions.
