"Bits of Paradise" is multi-sensory in nature and transforms the naturally existing, radioactive background radiation into a sonic experience. By means of sensors, the randomly occurring radioactive decay processes of the surrounding space are registered on site. Thus a recurring signal following no pattern is generated. Incessantly recurring like the admonations of the birds in Aldous Huxley´s book Island the signls are directing the visitors attention. An aluminum plate with the representation of a "Bird of Paradise", hangs on a chain in the center of the room. The plumage of the so-called Birds of Paradise originates from spontaneous mutations and poetically symbolizes the idea of the nuclear paradise paradox of exclusion zones and their technofossil inhabitants.
